The Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation Experienced Apprentice Lineperson in Jackson, Georgia
SUMMARY: Serves as an Apprentice in the construction, replacement, and maintenance of electric distribution lines, structures, and equipment. The Experienced Apprentice Lineperson performs all of the duties of an Apprentice Lineperson I.
The Experienced Apprentice Lineperson will begin learning to climb poles, operate digger equipment, and operate a bucket truck. The Experienced Apprentice Lineperson performs numerous duties involved in the maintenance and construction of both overhead
and underground lines. The Experienced Apprentice Lineperson is expected to learn the Lineperson job through on-the-job training as well as through classroom-type training provided by CGEMC. The
Experienced Apprentice Lineperson must demonstrate competencies through assessment and/or job evaluation in order to progress to Lineperson classifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Follows CGEMC safety
procedures and rules in the performance of all work.
Wears
appropriate work clothing, hard hat, leather gloves, safety glasses, and other safety
equipment
as necessary. Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and other
classroom training.
Complies with OSHA rules and regulations.
Assists Lineperson in equipment maintenance duties.
Observes Lineperson work on pole and anticipates Lineperson's needs for materials and
tools.
Assists with pole work if needed while being observed by senior crew personnel.
Assists Lineperson in preparing materials for use at the work site.
Performs manual labor type tasks as assigned.
Attends Pole Climbing School, Digger Operating Training, Backhoe, and Trencher Training.
Assists with installing underground power lines.
Assists
with filling out e-time. Assists with filling out documents for installed or retired
equipment.
Performs all other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
Answers emergency calls, trouble calls, and restores service as quickly and safely as possible; available for necessary on-call and overtime work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
