U.S. Marine Corps Drug Demand Reduction Coordinator in Iwakuni, Japan

Summary ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below. You will serve as a Drug Demand Reduction Coordinator in the Intervention Unit of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI. Responsibilities You will provide current training, and education on substance abuse issues to both the military and civilian communities. You will be required to speak to large groups several times a week. You will research, design and produce surveys to determine the DDR needs of the community. You will maintain statistical data on unit testing and brief the clinical supervisor, SAP of unit testing patterns. You will provide critical training for additional key staff in support of the mission such as training for Urinalysis Program Coordinators (UPCs). You will prepare course materials and teach a 40-hour Substance Abuse Control Officer (SACO) course for all command appointed Officers and Staff Non Commissioned Officers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing training and education on substance abuse issues in local communities and continuously overseeing and conducting on going needs assessments of the local communities regarding substance abuse and prevention needs; evaluating methods and techniques to issues of a substantive nature to plan, assess, evaluate, and make recommendations on the efficiency and effectiveness of new and recurring work operations. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Degree that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. OR Combination of education and experience that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences, and that provided applicants with knowledge of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a 4-year degree as shown in A above. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
