Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Southern Utah Veterans Home provides direct nursing care to veterans residing in the facility. The LPN works under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, compassionate care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine nursing care to residents, including administering medications, treatments, and injections as prescribed.
- Monitor and document residents' health status and report any changes or concerns to the supervising RN or physician.
- Assist with resident assessments and participate in care planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote resident well-being and quality of life.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and facility standards related to nursing care.
- Provide education and support to residents and their families regarding health care needs.
- Assist with emergency procedures and respond appropriately to resident needs.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Utah.
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or related healthcare setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
The Licensed Practical Nurse will work primarily in a long-term care facility serving veterans. The role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of residents. The position may involve exposure to infectious diseases and requires adherence to safety protocols.
