Tompkins Community Bank Senior Project Manager in Ithaca, New York
Overview
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing multiple concurrent strategic and information technology (IT) initiatives across the organization. This role requires an experienced professional who can effectively manage complex projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities. The Senior Project Manager will operate under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, providing transparency, structure, and accountability for all assigned initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic projects from initiation through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Manage multiple large-scale strategic initiatives simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and resource demands.
Collaborate with senior leadership to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and success criteria.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk management strategies.
Drive accountability, ensuring project tasks are completed on time and on budget.
Coordinate with business units, IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Provide regular project updates and performance reports to senior leadership.
Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies that may impact project outcomes.
Complete post project reviews to identify areas of improvement that could positively impact future projects.
Support process improvements and best practices in project management across the organization.
Support integration and transition efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of nine (9) years of significant project management experience, with a proven record of leading complex initiatives.
Experience in the banking and/or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
Experience managing projects related to acquisitions, integrations, or organizational transitions preferred.
PMP, PgMP, or other recognized project management certifications are desirable.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in project management software and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches).
Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships effectively.
