Job Description Summary
Special Process Engineer in SPM team provides technical support to GE Aerospace/Customer Repair Shops and GE Aerospace Engineering Resources on Repair/Overhaul Process Manuals for GE Commercial Aircraft Engines. The role requires horizontal partnership with GE Engine Services Shops, Repair Engineering, Suppy Chain and EMS Organizations to ensure robust technical solutions for the customer. This role has a direct effect on short-term and some long-term business goals. Job location is at Turkey Technology Center, Kartal/ İstanbul.

Role Overview:
Deep understanding of HVOF/plasma/flame spray fundamentals, parameters, and their effect on coating properties
Experience of challenges for thermal spraying for engine component repair
Develop, qualify, and document process specs (parameters, gun selection, masking, surface prep, heat input, etc.)
Define and interpret qualification tests (adhesion, thickness, porosity, microstructure, hardness, roughness)
Good level of understanding on materials, their physical and mechanical properties and processing.
Ability to coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work with working closely with cross-functional teams.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be experienced materials science (or similar disciplines such as mechanicals, aerospace) engineer with deep knowledge in thermal spray coatings (APS, HVOF etc.) and surface engineering (shot peening) for aerospace / aviation industry.
Required Qualifications:
In depth knowledge of thermal spray coatings and surface peening processes
5 years of experience of MRO aerospace / aviation industry
Bachelor’s (or higher) in mechanical, materials, aerospace, or similar engineering degree
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English.
Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in machining and blending operations for engine component repair
Experience in shot peen process for engine component repair
Ability to interpret and implement OEM specs, ISO 14922/14918, internal procedures, NADCAP AC7109 requirements
