Technical Project Manager Avionics & Embedded Systems We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Project Manager with a strong foundation in avionics and safety-critical embedded software development. This role is ideal for a driven professional who understands certification environments and can lead complex engineering programs from kickoff through final delivery. Position Overview The Technical Project Manager will oversee full program execution, serving as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as DO-178B. This position requires on-site presence. Key Responsibilities Program Planning & Execution Develop and manage detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, and resource allocation Translate customer requirements into clear engineering tasks with defined ownership Lead cross-functional teams across hardware, firmware, and embedded software Oversee full lifecycle activities, including design reviews and system verification Compliance & Certification Support and track DO-178B certification efforts (familiarity with DO-178C preferred) Ensure timely delivery of certification documentation and lifecycle data Coordinate with quality and engineering teams to maintain compliance standards Risk & Financial Management Identify program risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain risk registers Monitor budgets using earned value principles and report variances Assist with cost estimates, proposals, and change management activities Communication & Leadership Provide clear, confident program updates to leadership and clients Maintain documentation including status reports, action logs, and meeting notes Lead program meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions Guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure alignment across all stakeholders Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field 7+ years of project management experience in aerospace, avionics, or defense Strong knowledge of DO-178B and embedded software development processes Experience with project planning tools (MS Project, Jira, etc.) Proven ability to manage budgets and communicate program performance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred PMP certification or equivalent Experience with DO-254 and ARP4754A Familiarity with FAA certification processes and avionics data buses Experience in fast-paced engineering environments Location- Islandia NY Salary $125K-$150K
