Job Description
As the Benefits Specialist, you will serve as a key resource for employee benefits inquiries, case management, and program administration. Supporting a population of 1,000+ employees, this role requires clear and confident communication, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to benefits administration and compliance.
You will play a critical role in ensuring employees understand and can effectively navigate their benefits while maintaining accurate documentation and staying current on benefits regulations that are continuously evolving.
Employee Support & Communication
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits eligibility, enrollment, coverage, deductions, and plan changes
• Explain complex benefits information in a clear, professional, and employee-friendly manner
• Manage a high volume of benefits-related cases while providing timely and accurate follow-up
Benefits Administration
• Administer and support employee benefit programs including medical (PPO plans), dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life, disability, and retirement plans
• Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and mid-year changes, including Qualified Life Events (QLEs)
• Support open enrollment activities, including employee education, system updates, and issue resolution
Leave Management & Compliance
• Administer and explain employee leave programs, including FMLA and other leave of absence policies
• Coordinate benefits-related components of workers’ compensation cases and leave situations
• Ensure benefits administration aligns with applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA)
Documentation, Audits & Data Integrity
• Maintain accurate and thorough benefits documentation and case notes within HR systems
• Assist with benefits audits, reconciliations, and carrier/vendor coordination
• Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, and vendors to resolve issues
Continuous Improvement
• Stay current on benefits regulations and industry best practices
• Identify opportunities to improve benefits processes, employee education, and documentation standards

Skills and Requirements
3+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role
Hands-on experience supporting employee benefits inquiries in a high-volume environment
Strong working knowledge of FMLA, PPO medical plans, HSA/FSA, leave management, and workers’ compensation concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
Experience with ADP or other HRIS or benefits administration systems
