Cordis Senior Manager, R&D Engineering in Irvine, California

Overview

Selution, in partnership with Cordis, specializes in the development of ground-breaking technology and commercialization of advanced drug device combination products for the treatment of coronary and peripheral artery disease. Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, R&D Engineering provides leadership and direction for multiple engineering teams responsible for new product design, transfer, and commercialization. This role oversees technical execution, strategic planning, and talent development to ensure that projects meet organizational and regulatory standards, while also overseeing all sustaining activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish operational objectives, procedures, and work plans for multiple engineering teams.

  • Develop and execute company policies that impact both immediate operations and long-term strategic outcomes.

  • Oversee R&D budgets and resource planning to ensure project alignment with business objectives.

  • Provide technical leadership for complex design and development programs.

  • Guide the development and growth of engineering and technical leads, fostering a high-performance culture.

  • Develop and manage departmental goals and drive completion across teams.

  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless product launches.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with new product introductions.

  • Track and report technical progress and program performance to leadership.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost, and accelerate time-to-market.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality standards.

  • Manage direct reports from Engineer through Principal Engineer levels.

  • Oversee R&D sustaining projects and activities, including managing sustaining engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.

  • 12+ years of experience leading technical projects with a focus on design transfer and commercialization (8+ years with advanced degree).

  • Proven record of success in medical device product development and operations involving catheters and/or combination devices.

  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing large-scale combination medical device programs.

Pay / Compensation

The expected pre-tax pay rate for this position is $144,650-$206,800 annually. Actual pay may fluctuate outside of the listed range depending on skills, education, experience, job-related knowledge and location.

Preferred Qualifications
