WONDRA EXCAVATING INC Heavy Equipment Operator in IRON RIDGE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating assigned equipment. This position will assist with all aspects of the job requiring operation of both smaller and larger scale heavy equipment along with possible or occasional basic labor duties. Must have relevant field experience. Learn and follow safety regulations. Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects. Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes. Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain. Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludge, trimming backfills, or building roadways or parking lots. Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met. Operate loaders to pull out stumps, rip asphalt or concrete, rough-grade properties, bury refuse, or perform general cleanup. Operate compactors, scrapers, or rollers to level, compact, or cover refuse at disposal grounds. Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards and communicates abnormal working conditions to appropriate parties. Cleans, checks fluid levels, greases and conducts a visual inspection of equipment to assure your equipment is performing at optimum safety. Maintain clean equipment and a safe work environment. Assist with all aspects of the job including basic labor responsibilities. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: This person should have demonstrated field experience with digging operations around utilities in rural and urban areas. Must have experience operating utility construction equipment including but not limited to backhoe, mini excavator, cable plow, dozer, loader, haul truck or track hoe. Industry Knowledge: General knowledge of utility construction and earthwork procedures, including print reading.
