Job Overview
The Senior Engineering Technician is responsible for interpreting complex engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics; conducting detailed inspections and measurements; and performing root-cause analysis to resolve technical issues. The Senior Engineering Technician plays a key role in ensuring adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements.
A Day In The Life
Facilitate effective communication with Project Managers and Project Engineers
Make Cable/SIS schedules
Point to point check on the integration points
Interpret customer specifications with guidance from engineering
Assist project managers to solve EE manufacturing quality related issues, may consist of extended periods of time on the manufacturing floor. (EE/building side)
Help with bill of materials (BOM) as needed
Support project managers with the creation of Engineering BOM Change Notices (ECN) on all cable/SIS
Point of contact between floor and Project Engineers
Assist engineering technician with drawing checks as needed
Understand the basic theories and fundamentals of electrical circuits and related components
Work safely in and around energized electrical equipment
Recognize a need for and support process and product improvement
Training new technicians, new senior technicians
Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) and primary reference for designated Customer or Customer groups
Coordinate and work with Area Managers to reduce Panel-Hold (Boneyard) inventory.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience
Minimum four to six years of experience in a similar environment
The ability to read and understand electrical wiring and schematic diagrams
Proficiency in Windows based software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
Working knowledge of CAD software to include AutoCAD, MicroStation a plus
Understanding of electrical principles, electrical relaying and associated electronic devices
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to multitask given projects
Ability to work with limited supervision
Strong attention to detail, problem solving, time management, and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills (required)
