Job Description
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) provides best-in-class compute, storage, networking, and edge services to power businesses around the globe. We are seeking a skilled and proactive Data Center Technician (IC3) to join our dynamic team in Japan. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day operations, supporting critical infrastructure, and ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of Oracle’s rapidly expanding cloud environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Perform hardware installations, configurations, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs in the data center environment for servers, network devices, and storage systems.
Participate in daily operational support tasks such as racking, stacking, cabling, and component replacements.
Execute scheduled maintenance, firmware, and hardware upgrades with precision and adherence to strict change control processes.
Support and respond to tickets for on-site incidents, equipment failures, or system alerts, escalating issues as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation for inventory, repairs, and infrastructure changes.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to implement and optimize processes.
Ensure adherence to physical security and safety practices at all times.
Participate in emergency response and disaster recovery activities, as required.
Contribute to process improvement and best practices for data center operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience working in a data center or mission-critical technical environment.
Strong understanding of data center infrastructure (server/storage hardware, networking, cabling, and power/cooling systems).
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and basic repairs of server hardware.
Familiarity with ticketing systems, inventory management tools, and change management processes.
Excellent communication skills in Japanese (business level or above). English is a plus.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, walking, lifting up to 20kg).
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
