Jacobs Project Engineering Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana
Develop and deliver on project scopes through innovative execution strategies, budgets, reports, contracts and schedules. Technical Leadership: Oversee engineering design and development for technical accuracy and feasibility. Review and approve technical documents, drawings, and specifications. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. Direct work to High Value Center resourcing for engineering and drafting services. Review design and specifications for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical equipment. Evaluate loads for clean utilities, line sizing, and distribution design.
Portfolio Management: Support Project director to manage project plans, schedules, and budgets. Track progress against milestones and adjust plans as needed. Manage risks and resolve technical issues impacting timelines or quality. Participate in planning, cost development, and scheduling for assigned projects. Oversee budget and schedule management. Lead proposal development and coordination. Aligning portfolio objectives and global philosophies are consistently implemented among all workstream where applicable; waste management (liquid, solid and vapor), Material of Construction (MOC), line specs, design criteria, Scenario planning & long-term visioning, forecast global portfolio risks, staffing Understanding of project lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid). Resource allocation and capacity planning. Monitor progress, dependencies, and inter-project impacts. Task prioritization and scope management Translate complex data into actionable insights. Ensure adherence to policies, regulations, and standards.
Team & Resource Coordination: Lead and mentor engineering teams to foster collaboration and growth. Assign tasks based on team strengths and project needs. Coordinate with procurement, construction, and other departments. Oversee the external staff and ensure consistency across all workstreams. Develop and manage staffing plans. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to align expectations and deliverables. Present technical solutions and progress updates in meetings. Maintain effective communication with project team members and customers.
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular status reports for stakeholders and upper management. Maintain thorough documentation of project decisions, changes, and outcomes.
Process Safety & Compliance: Lead process and process safety initiatives. Ensure GMP compliance and support regulatory planning (FDA/EMA submissions, validation master planning).

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Project Engineering, Project Management, Process Safety or related field and 8 years of work experience in the job offered or related Process Engineering occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise and knowledge of: Process and bio-process engineering for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical projects. API equipment, flammable liquid handling, critical utility system design (WFI, PW, CIP, liquid nitrogen, process gases) and waste management such as biowaste, solvent and potent contained waste, volatile organic compound vents (VOC) treatment, wastewater management. Equipment/system design, hydraulic calculations, explosion mitigation, and facility siting assessments. Process mechanical design and ability to develop/ review Equipment datasheet and specifications for procurement purposes. FEED, EPCIC project delivery, commissioning, validation, FAT/SAT, ETOPs, and Asset Integrity Management. Process Safety Analysis such as HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, LOPA, QRA, SIL verification, PRD sizing, hazardous area classification (HAC), Facility Siting Analysis and experienced in emergency response planning. Engineering tools: Aspen HYSYS, PipeFlo, AutoCAD, NavisWorks, Phast, PHAPro. Project management tools: MS Project, Smartsheet, MS Teams, Revu Bluebeam.
Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), HAZOP Leader.
