Job Description:

Pitney Bowes is hiring for a Lead CDL A Truck Driver for our Indianapolis, IN facility.

Join our team and earn $31.00 per hour!

Work Shift: Monday - Friday 10:00AM to 6:00PM

You will:

  • Communicate with the Transportation Supervisor or Manager and the Operations Teamregardingany special,lateor missing pickups, andforwardthe information to the drivers

  • Coordinate with production to ensure the mail is dispatched on time and ensure that all transportation tasks are completed

  • Reviewpickup slips for USPS supplies and communicate supply requests to the drivers; verifyphysical container counts toaccompanyingcustomer pick up slips

  • Inspect assigned vehicle per the PBPS pre-trip inspection guidelines and procedures daily, and report any defective findings to the Transportation Supervisor to be fixedimmediately

  • Recommend measures to improve the performance of the transportation department

  • Ensure the mail is reviewed for proper dates, presort slugs and a pickup slipareattached with each order prior to loading on the truck

  • Ensure all drivers are compliant with DOT regulations;assistinmaintainingDOT files

  • Maintain a daily vehicle inspection report

  • Maintain a daily driver’s log or route sheet for mileage and cargo

  • Ensure USPS equipment is used only for the movement of “Live” mail

  • Return client damaged or undeliverable mail, following internal handling procedures for damaged secured mail

  • Use all required cell phone applications

  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle assigned

  • Assistin Quality Control or Barcode department between assigned pickups

  • Fill in for drivers on any shift on any day of the week with little or no prior notice

  • Keep work area clean by ensuring mail bins are under machines or in APC’s, plastic straps are off floor to preventpossible trippinghazards, and sweeping the floors between assigned pickups or deliveries, and all other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate safety and security precautions and follow company policies

  • Regular scheduled attendance

As a Lead Driver , you have:

  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license in state where driverresides(CDL Class A) and meet applicable DOT requirements for CDL

  • Minimum of sixmonths verifiableexperience driving a tractor trailer (semi) truck with safe driving record

  • Minimum age, 21

  • Ability to drive any company vehicle

  • Ability tooperatea vehicle in compliance withHours of Serviceregulations and company hours-worked program

  • Ability tomaintaina safe, courteous driving record

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Knowledge of USPS regulations and mailing standards

  • Basic understanding of production processes and mailing separations

  • Ability to prepare reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,customersand employees in a professional and courteous manner

  • Ability to communicate with Center Receiving any mail concerns such as missingpick upslips, incorrect documented container count, or any other quality concerns noted

  • Ability to understand and execute all driver quality procedures outlined in the TQM program

  • Ability to read a map and understand directions

  • Must have the ability to work mandatory overtime that may include weekends, holidays and or a different shift with little or no advance notice

  • Ability to maintain delivery and pick up schedules, meeting deadlines

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally or in writing

  • Ability to solve basic problems that arise in the transportation environment

  • Ability tolift upto 50lbswith or without accommodations

  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with thegeneral public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records
