Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work as a Journeyman Electrician on a wide variety of new construction and retrofit projects across commercial and high-end residential sites within the Indianapolis area and a 50-mile radius. You will lead electrical work on luxury homes, Class A office spaces, retail environments, and tenant finish projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality installations from rough-in through final finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to various new construction sites in both commercial and residential settings within the Indianapolis market and a 50-mile radius.

  • Perform electrical work on high-end luxury residential projects, including rough-in, finish work, and final-phase construction activities.

  • Execute electrical installations in commercial environments such as Class A office projects, retail spaces, tenant finishes, and SME field work.

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, lighting, motors, heating equipment, and building automation systems.

  • Run Romex and MC cable in accordance with plans, codes, and safety standards.

  • Install 277V lighting systems and lighting control systems, ensuring proper configuration and operation.

  • Perform retrofit work, upgrades, and modifications to existing electrical systems in occupied and unoccupied spaces.

  • Complete street lighting installations and related electrical work as required.

  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.

  • Lead and guide other electricians in the field, providing direction, support, and quality oversight as a Journeyman.

  • Conduct rough-in and finish work for outlets, lighting, and other electrical components to meet project specifications.

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on-site, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and project requirements.

  • Coordinate with other trades and project stakeholders to maintain schedules and deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician in both commercial and residential construction environments.

  • Strong ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems including wiring, lighting, motors, heating equipment, and building automation systems.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings.

  • Hands-on experience running Romex and MC cable in new construction and retrofit projects.

  • Demonstrated skill installing 277V lighting systems and lighting control systems.

  • Background in rough-in and finish electrical work for outlets, lighting, and related components.

  • Experience with retrofit projects, tenant finishes, and Class A office or similar commercial environments.

  • Leadership experience overseeing and guiding other electricians in the field as a Journeyman.

  • Solid understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices on construction sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on high-end luxury residential projects and finishes.

  • Background in SME field work and street lighting installations.

  • Well-rounded experience across a variety of electrical systems and project types.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues on active job sites.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, other trades, and site supervision.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.

Work Environment

The role is field-based, with work performed primarily on active construction sites within the Indianapolis area and a 50-mile radius. You will work across high-end residential properties, Class A office buildings, retail spaces, and other commercial facilities, often in both new construction and retrofit settings. The environment is hands-on and tool-intensive, involving the installation of Romex and MC cable, 277V lighting, lighting control systems, building automation components, and street lighting. Work typically follows standard construction hours, with the need to adapt to site conditions, coordinate with other trades, and follow all safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.
