Robert Half Full Charge Bookkeeper in Indianapolis, Indiana
Description We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to join a dynamic construction company in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role requires expertise in managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting functions with precision and efficiency. As a Contract to permanent opportunity, this position offers the potential for long-term growth and stability within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and credit card transactions while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Manage accounts receivable by preparing, tracking, and processing billings, maintaining accurate aging reports, and following up on outstanding balances.
• Handle payroll for field and office employees, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations and maintaining detailed payroll records.
• Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and verify proper coding and approvals for transactions.
• Collaborate with project managers to track job costs and generate detailed reports.
• Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Support the accounting team in audits, compliance initiatives, and financial reporting.
• Prepare lien waivers and manage project-specific billing requirements.
• Maintain strong communication with vendors, subcontractors, employees, and project managers to address inquiries and resolve issues efficiently. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in construction-specific billing processes, including AIA billing.
• Solid knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions; experience with non-union payroll required.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders, including vendors and project managers.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives in a fast-paced environment.
