Role Overview:

The Director of Community Services Grants contributes to fulfilling the IHCDA mission and meeting strategic and annual IHCDA operational and program goals by overseeing overall management and compliance for the agency’s Homeless-focused grants, including Emergency Solutions Grants, Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS, and direct Continuum of Care grants.Through these programs, IHCDA and its partners aim to reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness by connecting them to permanent housing and by ensuring that homelessness, when experienced, is rare, brief, and non-recurring.

Key Outcomes Expected:

  • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top quality personnel

  • Ensure all tasks are completed on time and with high quality

  • Respect and utilize the skills, expertise, experience, and insights of program staff

  • In coordination with the Chief Community Program and Services Officer and the Director of Community Services Initiatives, oversee the CoC Collaborative Application and Competition

  • Annually develop, implement, and evaluate strategic direction for the programs

  • Cultivate IHCDA’s ability to use findings from the annual Point in Time and Housing Inventory Count to spur decision making

  • Assist with the Annual Action Plan and CAPER submission

  • Oversee departmental budgets, contracts, and subgrant allocations

  • Design and implement monitoring procedures

  • Oversee training with subrecipients

  • Oversee the development of Policies and Procedures manuals and Standard Operating Procedure Manuals for all programs under this division

  • Oversee programmatic and sub-grantee compliance, track Quality Improvement Plans

  • Actively build and maintain positive working relationships with subgrantees and stakeholder organizations

    Critical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Highly collaborative style; works well with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds, education, and economic levels.

  • Demonstrates customer service orientation.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality of client and agency information.

  • Strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of high priority initiatives concurrently.

  • Able to operationalize big ideas and identify and undertake steps needed to complete large complex projects.

    Experience Needed:

    Experience in management, supervision and federal and/or state grant funding required.

Minimum of 5 years' managing government or nonprofit programs required. Experience overseeing staff required.

Meeting facilitation and excellent communication skills required.

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in public administration, or similar preferred.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $82,500.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
