We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to aid Project Managers in the successful execution of construction projects. This office-based role focuses on the financial and administrative aspects of project management. Projects include water treatment facilities and industrial developments with pre-engineered metal buildings across the U.S. In Central Indiana, the portfolio spans K-12 schools, car washes, parks and recreation facilities, National Guard projects, and company headquarters renovations. Some travel is required.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing project financials, including budget tracking, cost forecasting, subcontractor pay application review, and change order management.
Lead change management efforts by evaluating scope and cost impacts, preparing pricing, and supporting negotiations through execution and closeout.
Develop, review, and administer subcontract agreements, ensuring scope clarity, compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to develop and manage project schedules, including sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and recovery planning.
Take partial ownership of assigned project scopes, proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and driving solutions to protect budget, schedule, and quality.
Support Project Managers with financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for multiple projects.
Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate procurement activities, including vendor communication and purchase order tracking.
Generate and maintain project documentation, including cost reports and progress updates.
Utilize project management and ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, or similar) for documentation and reporting.
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated involvement in project financials, including budget tracking, cost forecasting, change order pricing, and subcontractor pay application review.
Experience supporting or managing change management, from identifying cost/scope impacts through negotiation and resolution with subcontractors and project teams.
Working knowledge of subcontractor contracts, including scope review, contract development, and enforcement in partnership with Project Managers.
Ability to build, maintain, and influence project schedules, working directly with Superintendents and subcontractors to manage sequencing and recovery plans.
Partial ownership of assigned project scopes, with the ability to make recommendations, manage risks, and independently drive issues to resolution while protecting schedule and budget.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management.
1 year of commercial construction experience (experience in water/wastewater or K-12 is a plus).
1 year of experience with general contractors or subcontractors.
1 year of experience with construction software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with Procore, water treatment, and institutional construction.
Work Environment
This role requires working in the office five days per week, totaling 40-45 hours. Employees traveling over 60 miles will be reimbursed at $0.725 per mile. The position offers opportunities for growth, including the chance to manage own projects as an Assistant Project Manager.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
