GovCIO is currently hiring for a Cohesity / Backup Engineer / Administrator with strong experience in Cohesity and related backup platforms, General System Administration, and other Microsoft Windows platforms. This position is fully remote and based out of Research Triangle Park, NC, however, the team member may be required to work on site for up to 3 days at a time per month with 3 business days notice. This is a remote position, though on-site work is required as needed with sufficient notice.
Responsibilities
Provide general operational, maintenance, and engineering activities for the OIG infrastructure to include but not limited to the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and HyperFlex systems, the Cohesity DataPlatform, and the Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
Install, configure, and support equipment to include servers, Cohesity DataPlatform, Cisco Hyperconverged, and Cisco UCS.
Ensure all solutions meet Federal and EPA mandates
Physically install system hardware and connect network cables
Design and implement disaster recovery solutions using the Cisco infrastructure
Monitor and suggest improvements to system performance, capacity, scalability, and security
Provide executive level reports to key OIG stakeholders.
Update hardware firmware and application software
Install operating systems, service packs, security patches and bug fixes
Use PowerShell, the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and the Microsoft EndPoint Configuration Manager products for automated maintenance
Be an ambassador to an established OIG IT community to foster innovation and growth across the agency.
Assist the community with inquiries and troubleshooting related to Network Engineering, environment access, and migration from On-Prem to Cloud-based environments.
Monitor the growth and usage trends of OIG Network environments; proactively provide governance and scalability recommendations.
Provide advanced technical support for OIG Network issues, incidents, and escalations within the overall EPA environment.
Stay up to date with changes Network Engineering Best Practices; educate users about new threat patterns, emerging and FedRamp-approved platforms, and EPA and Federal Civilian cloud environments.
Support and maintain OIG environments including gateway configurations, workspace organization, and access control.
Collaborate with IT Security, Infrastructure, and Business teams to ensure solutions meet organizational and compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
Qualifications
High School with 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong team collaboration, client communication, and customer service mindset.
10+ years of Network Engineering experience including:
Strong documentation skills: ability to create solution design documents, technical architecture diagrams, and end-user guides.
Understanding of data loss prevention (DLP) policies, tenant-level governance, and compliance.

Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain EPA Public Trust Suitability
Posted Salary Range
USD $140,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
