Assistant Superintendent – Indianapolis, IN (Beech Grove)

This is a salaried, exempt position

Position Summary

As an Assistant Superintendent at ADM, you will help lead the daily operations of a grain elevator and play a key role in keeping products moving safely and efficiently through the supply chain. You’ll work closely with the Superintendent to support operations like loading, unloading, grading, and storing grain, while also leading and developing a team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend time both in the facility and working alongside employees to solve problems, improve processes, and keep operations running smoothly.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day elevator operations, including grain handling, storage, and transfer activities

  • Plan and prioritize daily work while assigning tasks based on team strengths and operational needs

  • Lead with safety by following regulations and addressing potential hazards to protect people, product, and the environment

  • Build a strong team by training, coaching, and supporting employee development

  • Maintain open communication with employees, address concerns, and help create a positive work environment

  • Troubleshoot equipment and support maintenance efforts to reduce downtime and improve reliability

  • Partner with facility leadership to improve efficiency, safety, and overall performance

  • Support preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and repair planning

  • Ensure work is completed in line with company policies and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain accurate documentation and identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2 years’ experience leading, training, or supporting a team in an operations, agriculture, or industrial environment

  • Ability to work with basic computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in grain handling, agriculture, or a similar industry

  • Experience supporting maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, or improving operational processes

  • A degree in agriculture, operations, engineering, or a related field

Physical requirements: This role involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking, and reaching. You’ll operate manual and powered tools, move throughout the facility, climb stairs and ladders, and work at heights. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors year-round, including in environments that may be dusty, noisy, or exposed to changing temperatures and other operational conditions.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$72,900.00 - $131,800.00

Salaried Incentive Plan:

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
