Flynn Restaurant Group Procurement Specialist, Operations Support in Independence, Ohio

Our Vision for this Role

The Procurement Specialist, Operations Support is responsible for tactically supporting the day to day needs of Restaurant Operations. This role includes, but is not limited to, providing excellent customer service across a wide variety of Purchasing categories (i.e., equipment, food & beverage, distribution and services), aiding in the purchase order process, reconciling invoices, mining data and resolving vendor-related issues. To be successful in this role, the individual will be a dynamic, highly engaged, detailed, articulate, forward-thinking self-starter with natural customer service and problem-solving skills who is comfortable juggling a wide variety of projects while contributing to a vibrant and supportive team environment.

  • Triage & resolve supplier, stakeholder, or operational issues where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation.

  • Support Category management team in program implementations

  • Review distribution inventory, reroutes, transportation and confirm operational needs are met.

  • Support growth through providing acquisition support.

  • Source alternative products and find solutions for long lead times of inventory (paper, smallwares, chemicals).

  • Effectively communicate oral and written resolution of issues with all internal and external partners to ensure issues are resolved and programs are operating as expected.

  • Proactively communicate risks and issues to key stakeholders and recommend mitigations.

  • Prepares and delivers written and verbal communication, promoting clarity and understanding to colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Recognize and report on trends by categories, as needed, to communicate to Category Management Team

  • Resolve distribution and beverage partner challenges, transitions and service engaging co-ops, operations and external partners.

  • Takes initiative in identifying and resolving challenges, contributing to a solutions-oriented team culture.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships of trust and credibility with internal and external customers that lead to stronger buy-in and commitment within customer groups; consistently meets or exceeds commitments with quick turnarounds.

Trusted Owner

  • Purchase capital equipment, parts, accessories, supplies and various services necessary for the operation of the business within company guidelines.

  • Review quotes and negotiate with suppliers for requirements that meet operational needs.

  • Execute and track purchase orders accurately and promptly to ensure proper delivery of goods and services.

  • Reconcile & process invoices to ensure accuracy in compliance with organizational policy.

  • Maintain accurate supplier records and new item specifications; understand programs and marketing initiatives for rollouts.

  • Compile data from multiple sources and develop reporting based on the needs of the business (standard and ad-hoc), including market information regarding food, beverage & distribution landscape.

  • Coordinate a variety of projects as required by Operations, including but not limited to: MRPs, brand roll outs, LTOs, market tests in compliance to brand mandates.

Experience

  • Highly proficient in Office 365 environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably with a focus in Business or Supply Chain or equivalent years of industry experience in foodservice or retail

  • 2-4 years of functional procurement experience in addition to demonstration of the following skills: customer service, negotiations, supplier relationship management, team building, logistics, distribution, transportation, inventory management, and project management

  • Restaurant operations experience is highly desirable.

  • Experience with Coupa or similar e-procurement suites is a plus.

  • Customer-service background is highly preferred
