Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Facility Operations Director and guidelines set by the hospital’s mission, values, policy, and procedure manages the daily operation of the Plant Operations department.
Is an active member of the hospitals Safety Committee coordinating the fire prevention and utility management plans.
Assists in recruitment and interviews for open positions in the department.
Assists in the creation and maintenance of department policy and procedure.
Assures compliance with policy and procedure through monitoring staff activities, completing annual performance evaluations, employee recognition, and appropriate disciplinary action for staff reporting to the position of Operations Manager.
Coordinates on the job training and staff education to maintain the competency of the department’s staff.
Purchases materials and supplies to accomplish the department’s work.
Coordinates contractors, vendors, and department staff to accomplish new equipment installation, equipment relocation or modification, construction, and renovation work.
Must possess strong leadership skills.
Must be a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to continually improve skills and knowledge base through on-the-job training and continuing technical education.
What qualifications you will need:
Education: Associate Degree or Technical Certificate in an engineering related field required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
Licensure/Certifications: Class “A” Operating Engineer License. AHA - Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred.
Must have valid drivers license.
Experience: Minimum 5-years supervisory experience in a healthcare engineering setting.
