Description
This position is an on-call position with night and weekend hours.
Job Purpose and Objectives:The Juvenile Intake and Assessment Worker Provide 24 hour per day uniform assessment strategies and least restrictive placement options for youth as set out by use of an assessment tool and the KDAI (Kansas Detention Assessment Instrument) adopted by the Kansas Supreme Court. Placement decisions shall take into account the best interest of the youth, the family unit, and public safety; least restrictive placement guidelines; and available community resources. All placements shall adhere to the criteria for the detention of youth as set out in the KDAI. Facilitate the exchange of information regarding the youth served among cooperating entities. Provide emergency crisis intervention and referrals for the youth and family for additional services recommended by the MASYI II. Temp. Part-time Intake Workers must complete 20 hours of continuing education annually.

Essential Duties:
- Must maintain and answer their phones if they are on call.
- Maintain a general understanding of Kansas laws related to juveniles and maintain knowledge of services with area agencies.
- Screen youth taken into custody and examine placement options.
- Make informed placements of youth.
- Protect confidentiality of information acquired.
- Complete conditions of release for Juvenile Offenders and complete all release forms.
- To assist Law Enforcement with the placement forms for CINC and find foster homes if needed.
- Inform Juvenile Division of County Attorneys Office and all other involved agencies of information regarding youth.
- Maintain all files for each contact and complete UAs.
- Any other duties at the discretion of Director.
Requirements

- The applicant must be 21 years of age or older
- The applicant must have a high school diploma or GED and one year experience working with youth.
- Applicant must have good communication, written skills and computer skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, outside agencies, officials and the public required.
- Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position.
- This position requires passing of background check, drug screening.
- No history of adult or juvenile felony charges and or abuse or neglect.
