Your role and responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Specialist for the IBM Cloud Platform, you will manage and implement IBM Cloud-based infrastructure solutions according to established designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate with IT teams to implement and integrate IBM Cloud infrastructure solutions based on existing designs. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Set up and Configure IBM Cloud Resources: Set up, configure, and manage IBM Cloud Virtual Servers, storage solutions, networking, and databases to support business applications, ensuring smooth operations and high availability. • Implement and Oversee IBM Cloud Solutions: Implement and oversee IBM Cloud resources like Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Load Balancers, and Cloud Internet Services, continuously monitoring and troubleshooting issues. • Apply Security Measures: Apply and enforce security measures to ensure IBM Cloud infrastructure complies with organizational policies and industry regulations, maintaining high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations. • Optimize Costs: Optimize costs by right-sizing resources, developing cost-effective solutions, and monitoring usage, ensuring efficient use of IBM Cloud resources. • Automate Processes: Use automation tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate and streamline processes, supporting DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Required technical and professional expertise

• Experience with IBM Cloud Services: Proven experience with IBM Cloud services such as Virtual Servers, Object Storage, Kubernetes Service (IKS), and Databases, as well as proficiency in Linux and VMware environments. • Cloud Migration and Implementation: Experience with cloud migration projects, including implementation and execution, with a focus on effective container orchestration and scaling through IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service (IKS). • Automation Tools: Experience with automation tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate and streamline processes, supporting DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). • Security Compliance: Experience applying and enforcing security measures to ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations, maintaining high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations. • Cost Optimization: Experience optimizing costs by right-sizing resources, developing cost-effective solutions, and monitoring usage to ensure efficient use of IBM Cloud resources.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Exposure to Additional IBM Cloud Services: Familiarity with other IBM Cloud services beyond the required expertise, such as Cloud Functions, Cloudant, or Message Hub, can be beneficial in designing comprehensive solutions. • Knowledge of Containerization: Understanding containerization concepts and experience with Docker can enhance skills in managing Kubernetes clusters through IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service (IKS). • Familiarity with Scripting Languages: Basic understanding of scripting languages like Python or Bash can aid in automating processes with Terraform and Ansible.
