About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Financial Accounting Manager
In this role, you will:
Manage a team of individual contributors supporting significantly diverse and complex functional areas related to financial accounting
Manage directly or through a team, accounting activities for one or more groups within a line of business
Direct completion of complex accounting tasks pertaining to accounts, statements, systems and records
Set standards for monitoring the data provided and for preparation and review of financial statements and other documentation
Create and implement controls to ensure accuracy of data
Maintain advanced knowledge of current accounting practices and regulatory requirements
Enforce adherence to internal and external accounting principles and policies
Develop methodologies and implement changes for internal accounting systems
Plan, design and direct the production of financial and regulatory reports
Manage response and resolution to audit inquiries
Provide technical interpretation on various matters and a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional area
Lead implementation of complex projects or initiatives impacting one or more lines of business
Understand and ensure compliance and risk management requirements are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
Provide strategic consultation to more experienced leadership
Interact with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
Manage a team of individual contributors, cross-functional or virtual teams
Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Enterprise Finance
Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
2+ years of leadership experience
Essential Qualifications
Qualified CA/CFA/ICWA/MBA-Finance with Relevant years of experience in with a focus on accounting, financial/regulatory reporting and controls, preferably with experience in a financial services environment
Strong technical background and proficiency with systems and spreadsheet skills including various Microsoft products like Word, Excel, Access, Visio etc.
Strong analytic, accounting and problem solving skills
A self-starter with excellent time and project management skills that can identify, plan, prioritize and deliver various work streams against deadlines
Proven ability to work independently and to identify and resolve issues by exercising professional judgement
Attention to detail, alongside ability to see the ‘big picture’
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written)
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with core financial and/or regulatory platforms (Oracle, SAP, Axiom, FRS OneSumX)
Experience with digitization tools like Alteryx, Wdesk, Tableau, MS Teams etc.
Experience with Agile project delivery methodology
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Familiarity with JIRA & Confluence
Product knowledge (Derivatives, Loans, Secured Lending, Cash products)
This role will be responsible to manage large portfolio of change activity aimed at:
Ensuring complete and timely capture of new/amended requirements arising from internal or external changes (reporting rule changes, new business activity etc) ;
Developing efficient and effective solutions in partnership with key stakeholders (Controller reporting teams, technology etc), and implementing into production environments;
Driving enhancement (reduced manual intervention, improved run times, enhanced controls) of existing processes and infrastructure,
Responsibilities
Lead the Financial and Regulatory Change team based in Chennai, as a part of the wider International Controller Change team:
Oversight of the team’s book of work, resource allocation and delivery status in conjunction with the regional change leads
Support development of the team through identification of skills gaps and opportunities for upskilling
Act as a member of the International Controller Change management structure, representing the India based team
Support and drive the planning, testing, implementation and management of book of work items which affect the Regulatory & Financial Reporting Infrastructure – scope of the role will cover both ‘Run the Bank’ maintenance activity, as well as larger scale strategic deliverables falling under the ‘Change the Bank’ banner
Perform impact analysis on book of work items and partner with colleagues in Project Management, Technology, Controllers and various other teams to help map regulatory and financial requirements to documented specifications and help support successful implementations of automated reporting solutions through iterative delivery (Agile)
Employ analytical, accounting and data mining skills to help map key data elements from multiple systems of records ultimately to specific regulatory reports.
Review business requirements for compliance against relevant regulation and substantive testing of those requirements to ensure implementation is correct
Focus on control environment and monitoring / driving process efficiency, including challenge of operating model
Documentation of user stories and participation in Agile ceremonies
Support of release management processes and any post production issues
Creation of best in class documentation for Release Management
Identify and champion opportunities for efficiencies and improvement through process re-engineering and use of ‘Next Gen’ digital tools
Support maintenance of an effective system of internal control over the change portfolio through effective gathering and sharing of information (new work items, delivery status etc) with key internal stakeholders
