Job Title: Bookkeeper
Job Description
This contract Bookkeeper role focuses on a mix of accounts payable and accounts receivable, with some journal entry work and a strong emphasis on manual invoicing in QuickBooks. You will support day-to-day accounting operations in an industrial construction supply environment and help maintain accurate, timely financial records during a period of growth and transition.
Responsibilities
Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and preparing payments in a timely manner.
Manage accounts receivable activities, including generating customer invoices, posting payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
Perform a high volume of manual invoicing with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Prepare and post basic journal entries to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting records for both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Reconcile account balances and resolve discrepancies by researching and correcting errors as needed.
Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information for invoicing, payments, and account reconciliation.
Operate within QuickBooks to enter, track, and report financial data.
Apply general accounting knowledge to support month-end and ongoing transactional activities.
Adapt quickly to changing priorities and processes in a dynamic industrial and construction-related environment.
Essential Skills
2–5 years of accounting experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping.
Hands-on experience in either accounts payable or accounts receivable; experience in both is strongly preferred.
Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
Practical bookkeeping and general accounting knowledge.
Ability to handle a significant amount of manual invoicing with high accuracy.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems, processes, and environments.
Effective communication skills to work with internal stakeholders and external vendors or customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a construction or manufacturing environment is a plus.
Experience working in an industrial or operations-focused business is beneficial.
Comfort working in a role that blends accounts payable, accounts receivable, and basic journal entry responsibilities.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a small accounting or operations team.
Work Environment
This is a 100% onsite role, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position is based in an industrial construction supply setting rather than a traditional office environment, so you will work close to operations and the flow of materials. You will use QuickBooks as the primary accounting platform, along with standard office tools for data entry and documentation. The role is offered as a 6‑month contract with the possibility of extension up to approximately 9–12 months. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, and it suits someone who is comfortable in a construction or manufacturing-oriented workplace and can remain focused and organized amid day-to-day operational activity.
