Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automation Support Engineer to join our team in Huxley, IA. This role involves providing virtual support for various automation platforms, managing the deployment and installation of new systems globally, and conducting training sessions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in automation troubleshooting, project management, and fostering partnerships with stakeholders to establish best practices and support strategies.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to co-own the strategic planning and implementation of automation systems, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs.
Assess deployment strategies and manage the installation and commissioning of new automation equipment, including training site personnel.
Foster strong partnerships with stakeholders to advocate for resource allocations and enhance collaboration among teams.
Diagnose complex automation issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
Develop and refine best practices for automation support, ensuring that engineering team members are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge.
Utilize data management skills to analyze system performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and communicate technical issues and solutions effectively.
Travel up to 35% of the time to provide on-site support, training, and assessments as needed.
Essential Skills
10+ years of experience in automation support, project management, or related roles within manufacturing or industrial environments.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly and foster collaboration among teams.
Strong collaborative skills to build relationships with stakeholders, including engineering and production teams.
Proven project management skills, including defining scope, setting timelines, and managing resources.
Proficient in analyzing automation analytics to drive data-informed decisions and recommend process improvements.
Extensive experience diagnosing and troubleshooting automation systems with a solid understanding of PLC logic and control systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional certifications such as SMRP or CAPM are highly desirable.
Experience in automation within manufacturing, logistics, or pharmaceuticals is advantageous.
Familiarity with advanced automation technologies including robotics, IoT, and AI-based solutions.
Strong analytical skills with experience in data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Proven track record of managing large-scale automation projects from inception to completion.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians.
Work Environment
The position requires travel up to 35% of the time and starts at 07:30 AM. The work environment is hybrid, involving both on-site and remote support. Candidates should be prepared to navigate various work environments, including manufacturing floors and equipment areas, and adhere to all site safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirement

This is a Contract position based out of Huxley, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
