Job Duties

The Parks/Fairgrounds Summer Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain and improve County parks and fairgrounds. Duties include meeting the public and providing information about facilities, rules, and regulations; cleaning restrooms and assisting with building maintenance; mowing lawns, planting and trimming trees, and performing general groundskeeping. Additional responsibilities include clearing brush and weeds, maintaining roads and trails, loading and unloading materials, and operating mechanical equipment. The role also involves assisting with event setup and teardown, including cleaning and preparing facilities for scheduled activities. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Education Required

There is no formal education requirement for this position; however, knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, as well as basic park operation and maintenance practices, is preferred.

Minimum Experience Required

No prior experience is required, but previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or facility maintenance is desirable. Applicants without relevant experience should expect to start at the entry-level pay rate.

Job Benefits

This is a temporary, seasonal position and does not include benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement plans. However, it offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in parks and fairgrounds maintenance, along with a primarily Monday through Friday work schedule, with occasional night or weekend shifts as needed.
