County of McLeod Highway Engineering Summer Worker in Hutchinson, Minnesota

Job Duties

The Highway Engineering Summer Worker assists with and performs various engineering and maintenance-related tasks to support county highway projects. Responsibilities include assisting with surveying and materials testing, inspecting highway construction projects, and helping with sign installation and replacement. This position may also involve maintenance activities such as making signs, flagging traffic, patching roads, cleaning bridges, vegetation control, and general shop maintenance. Depending on workload, the role may focus solely on engineering or include a mix of engineering and maintenance duties. Other related tasks may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Education Required

There is no formal education requirement; however, college coursework or training in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience Required

No prior experience is required, but previous experience in highway construction or maintenance activities is considered desirable. Applicants without relevant experience should expect to start at the entry-level pay rate.
