Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead cross-functional teams in delivering complex application development and maintenance projects. You will be responsible for managing project scope, cost, and timelines, ensuring all deliverables meet business and contractual requirements. Your role will focus on implementing and enhancing automated credit decisioning systems and continuously improving retail credit processes, procedures, and controls. You will manage internal stakeholder relationships, define implementation schedules, and ensure compliance with strategic and regulatory standards. You will also provide risk systems expertise to support key bureau relationships and bank-wide initiatives. This is a dynamic role requiring technical understanding, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to driving project success.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and track the critical path of the programme.

  • Collate requirements, co-ordinate design work, plan out delivery activity and drive the wider team to achieve the necessary results within the timeframes set.

  • Manage lifecycle governance and ensure all tribes are properly engaged; risk stories raised and addressed.

  • Responsible for project costs and resources for their deliverables tracking actuals against budget.

  • Manage the trade-offs of delivery within time cost and quality constraints.

  • Identify risks issues and dependencies and can perform analysis on value at risk and mitigation options across a project.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and governance.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.

  • Experience delivering system and process improvement projects.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Analytical mindset with focus on quality and compliance.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Familiarity with automated credit systems and retail banking operations.

  • Knowledge of risk systems and bureau-based relationship management.

  • Experience with Agile or hybrid delivery models.

  • Background in financial or compliance-led system development.

  • Industry standard project management certifications i.e. PMI PMP
