Position Summary
The Warehouse / Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations to ensure accurate inventory levels, efficient storage, and timely order fulfillment. This role manages inventory control processes, coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, and leads warehouse staff to meet safety, quality, and operational goals. The position works closely with the Senior Buyer to maintain optimal stock levels and support production and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels using WMS/ERP systems
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits; reconcile discrepancies
- Manage remnant inventory to ensure proper tracking and utilization
Logistics and Fulfillment
- Oversee receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of materials
- Ensure all shipments are accurate and properly documented
- Coordinate and schedule outgoing shipments and deliveries
Stock Planning and Purchasing Support
- Analyze inventory data to anticipate demand and reorder materials
- Partner closely with the Senior Buyer on procurement planning
- Assist in maintaining supplier relationships and delivery schedules
Warehouse Operations Oversight
- Direct daily warehouse workflow for maximum efficiency
- Optimize storage layout and space utilization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and schedule warehouse staff
- Assign daily tasks and monitor performance
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Enforce proper handling, storage, and equipment usage procedures
Essential Functions
- Manage all steel deliveries (incoming and internal distribution)
- Oversee remnant material tracking and usage
- Assist with loading outgoing trucks as needed
- Coordinate and line up trucks for customer shipments
- Conduct cycle counts with shop floor team members
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience
- Prior experience in warehouse, logistics, or inventory management
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with WMS and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, E2)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
Analytical Ability
- Ability to analyze inventory data, identify trends, and resolve discrepancies
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift materials, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts) if required
Communication and Leadership
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
