Lockheed Martin Rapid Iteration Prototype Lab Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

Description: Role Overview

Join the Huntsville Rapid Iteration Prototype Lab (RIPL) as an early-career Project Engineer. In this hands-on role, you will help design and produce 3D-printed prototype parts that support engineering and business needs across programs. You will partner with experienced engineers to deliver fast, practical solutions in a lab environment.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

• Create and refine 3D-printed prototype parts using CAD and additive manufacturing tools

• Support multiple projects by coordinating tasks, schedules, and priorities

• Track project schedules and costs, and support customer engagement activities

• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and partner teams across locations

• Contribute to lab operations that focus on speed, quality, and cost-effective solutions

• Maintain consistent processes while adapting to changing project needs

• Fast-paced and collaborative, with multiple projects running in parallel

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must meet all of the following:

• 1+ years of related experience, or post-secondary education/training in a relevant field

• Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing, CAD, and 3D printing

• Ability to manage projects, including scheduling, cost tracking, and coordinating tasks

• Experience supporting daily work across multiple teams in a fast-paced lab environment

• Ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed teams

• Strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills

• Ability to follow defined processes while adapting in a dynamic environment

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

These are not required but will strengthen your application :

• Active DoD Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

• Experience improving production workflows or troubleshooting processes

• Experience presenting work to senior leaders

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
