Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Huntsville, Alabama
Description We are looking for a dependable Accounts Payable Clerk to join a team in Huntsville, Alabama on a Contract basis. This position supports day-to-day accounting operations while also assisting with general office coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work. The role is fully onsite during standard weekday business hours and offers the opportunity to contribute to both financial processing and administrative support in a collaborative office environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process a steady volume of vendor invoices each week with accuracy and timely entry into the accounting system.
• Prepare and complete check runs while verifying payment details and supporting documentation.
• Maintain purchase order records and help ensure invoice coding aligns with internal tracking needs.
• Support routine accounts payable activities such as matching invoices, reviewing discrepancies, and following up as needed.
• Assist with general administrative tasks across the office, including supply ordering and maintaining shared spaces such as the kitchen area.
• Coordinate with field personnel to help address operational requests and provide day-to-day office support.
• Use accounting and spreadsheet tools to organize records, update information, and complete basic reporting tasks.
• Adapt to shifting priorities and take on a mix of accounting and administrative duties as business needs change. Requirements • Previous experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, and payment support.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
• Comfortable handling both accounting tasks and broader administrative duties in a small office setting.
• Working knowledge of basic Excel functions and formulas.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to assist office staff and field teams professionally.
• Willingness to learn new systems, including company-specific accounting software.
• Prior practical experience is valued more than a bachelor’s degree for this role.
