International 2nd shift Manufacturing Operations Supervisor - Machining in Huntsville, Alabama
Position Overview
International’s Huntsville Powertrain Plant is seeking a 2nd shift Manufacturing Operations Supervisor - Machining to join our dynamic team. In this critical leadership role, you will drive operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing practices, guide high-performing machining teams, and play a vital role in ensuring our plant delivers world-class quality, cost, and delivery performance.
As a frontline leader, you will be the key liaison between plant floor activities and upper management—implementing strategy, coaching your team, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Training & Schedule:
Training: This role requires up to 6 months (or more, as needed) of hands-on training on 1st shift
Permanent Shift: Upon completion of training, the position transitions to 2nd shift (Mon–Friday, 8 PM – 6:30 AM)
Responsibilities
Lead nightly machining operations to meet and exceed safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
Adjust and prioritize schedules based on product demand, equipment readiness, and materials availability
Champion Lean Manufacturing practices such as line balancing, 5S, and real-time process management
Oversee team performance, staffing, training, and development
Track and improve KPIs including First Time Quality (FTQ) and Roll Throughput Yield (RTY)
Quickly identify and resolve production and workforce challenges
Collaborate across departments—Facilities, Tooling, Materials, and Training—to ensure smooth operations
Foster a positive, engaged team culture with a focus on accountability and results
Create production and status reports
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of production/manufacturing experience
OR
- Master's degree and at least 1 year of production/manufacturing experience
OR
- At least 5 years of production/manufacturing experience
Additional Requirements

Desired Skills
Experience with metal machining techniques, equipment & production machining processes
Prior experience leading in a manufacturing environment
Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement tools
Familiarity with quality assurance and workplace safety programs
Financial acumen related to operational budgets and cost control
Strong capabilities in real-time production problem solving and decision-making
Proven track record of managing teams in high-speed, high-volume settings
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all organizational levels
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop frontline team members
Excellent computer skills

Salary Minimum: USD $74,400.00/Yr.
Salary Maximum: USD $111,600.00/Yr.
