ManpowerGroup Purchasing Specialist in Huntington, West Virginia

Manpower in Huntington, WV is seeking a Purchasing Specialist for a client in the tri-state area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure raw materials, with a focus on steel products (plate, sheet, structural, etc.)

  • Manage the full purchase order lifecycle from creation through delivery

  • Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve delays proactively

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times

  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning/production teams

  • Track shipments and coordinate logistics to ensure smooth material flow

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks

  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Material Purchaser, Buyer, or Procurement Specialist

  • Hands-on expediting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Prior experience in the steel or metals industry strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management

  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
