Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs detailed inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and industry standards. This role supports quality control activities, maintains accurate documentation, and contributes to continuous improvement by identifying quality issues and recommending corrective actions.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, and stability samples.
Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on the suitability of data for product release.
Perform thorough visual inspections of finished and unfinished products to verify conformance to quality standards.
Complete all documentation required to support testing procedures, including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, and inventory forms, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
Calibrate, validate, and maintain laboratory and inspection equipment to ensure reliable and consistent measurements.
Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
Provide quality control data and documentation necessary to support regulatory and customer submissions.
Receive and inspect raw materials to verify they meet required specifications before use in production.
Investigate, document, and report questionable or nonconforming test results in a timely manner.
Maintain lab and inspection area cleanliness and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.
Identify quality problems, trends, or risks and recommend practical solutions to improve processes and product quality.
Use measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles when interpreting blueprints and inspection requirements.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support continuous improvement of inspection methods and quality systems.
Essential Skills
1–2 years of aerospace inspection experience.
Experience performing quality inspection on composite and metallic structures (experience with both is a plus, but not required).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Hands-on experience using and calibrating precision measurement tools such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, and height gages.
Basic knowledge of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), including recognizing equipment and understanding its purpose.
Knowledge of basic mathematics, including algebra and geometry, for dimensional calculations and tolerance analysis.
Strong quality inspection and quality control skills, including visual inspection techniques.
Excellent oral and written comprehension to understand technical documentation and communicate findings clearly.
Strong problem-solving abilities to investigate nonconformances and support corrective actions.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as part of routine inspection and material handling activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as ISO 9000 and AS9100.
Experience working with composite insulation and structures or metallic aerospace components.
Comfort working with micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision inspection tools in a production environment.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in measurements, documentation, and reporting.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in production, testing, and quality.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple inspections, documentation, and priorities.

Work Environment
This role is based in a specialized manufacturing and testing environment focused on composite insulation and lightweight structural components for the rocket industry, including rocket nozzles and related structures. The company operates across three buildings: a main facility with office space, showroom, and production floor; a second building housing additional production, testing, and quality areas; and a third warehouse that is being expanded for future growth. The organization maintains a family-style atmosphere with approximately 140 employees and emphasizes low turnover, strong benefits, and overall wellness. The facility includes a small on-site gym to support employee health. Work is performed in production, laboratory, and quality areas using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other inspection equipment, as well as exposure to CMM equipment. The setting is hands-on and safety-focused, with expectations for maintaining cleanliness and following safety procedures while handling materials and components.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
