Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs complex production machinery in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role focuses on mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, furnaces, rolling mills, and related equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The technician performs both reactive and preventive maintenance, precision mechanical work, and equipment rebuilds while working safely around high-speed and high-temperature processes.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery in a manufacturing environment to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
Diagnose and service hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical machines used throughout the facility.
Work with melting and holding furnaces, casting lines, hot and cold rolling mills, annealing furnaces, and slitters to ensure optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance on gas, diesel, and electric industrial trucks to keep material handling equipment in safe working condition.
Repair high-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in rolling and slitting operations, including identifying leaks, worn components, and performance issues.
Maintain pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and filtration systems, including inspection, repair, and replacement of parts as needed.
Perform precision mechanical work such as alignment, torqueing, rigging, and equipment rebuilds to meet specifications and reliability standards.
Troubleshoot cooling towers, chillers, and lubrication systems to ensure proper cooling and lubrication of production equipment.
Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
Follow all safety procedures and site rules when working around high-speed equipment, furnaces, and industrial machinery.
Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement lasting solutions.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used according to site requirements.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a mechanical maintenance technician in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
Strong mechanical maintenance experience with the ability to troubleshoot and repair production machinery.
Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including high-pressure hydraulics used in rolling and slitting operations.
Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems used in industrial production processes.
Ability to maintain and repair mechanical machines such as melting and holding furnaces, casting lines, hot and cold rolling mills, annealing furnaces, and slitters.
Experience performing routine maintenance on gas, diesel, and electric industrial trucks.
Ability to maintain pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and filtration systems.
Proficiency in precision mechanical work, including alignment, torqueing, rigging, and rebuilds.
Ability to troubleshoot cooling towers, chillers, and lubrication systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
Ability to work safely and effectively in a heavy industrial, non-climate-controlled environment with heat, noise, and high-speed equipment.
Mechanical maintenance and hydraulics experience as a core qualification.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntingdon, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.21 - $36.21/hr.
