Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
Join an AS9100-certified aerospace and defense organization as a mid-level Quality Engineer. In this role, you will be a vital part of a program, ensuring product and process compliance, driving continual improvement, and supporting production and supplier quality through data-driven methods. You will work under general supervision, exercising independent judgment within defined procedures and practices, allowing for creativity and latitude.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement standards and methods for product testing, evaluation, and acceptance inspection.
Support process development for analysis, inspection, design, test, and integration to assure quality of assigned products or components.
Devise sampling procedures and design forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Establish program processes to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and process changes.
Document data obtained during quality activities consistent with company policies and procedures.
Oversee supplier quality including the flow down of quality requirements. Review all purchased products or components and provide input on acceptance and future purchases.
Lead Material Review Board assessments and dispositions of nonconforming products.
Administer monitoring and measuring resource processes to ensure AS/ISO compliance and timely calibration of organizational assets.
Perform or support internal audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Draft revisions to QMS procedures and instructions when updates are needed.
Engage in risk management and configuration control processes.
Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
Collaborate cross-functionally to notify management of nonconformances or significant issues and provide risk-based recommendations for process improvements.
Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities.
Recommend and proactively take action on process improvements.
Prepare and present technical and program information to team members and management.
Direct technical and administrative workers engaged in quality activities.
Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
Ensure daily availability, including evenings and weekends when necessary, to accomplish mission requirements, goals, and deadlines.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Proficiency with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, solid geometry, and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
General knowledge of Microsoft Office and Quality Software.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, and Kaizen.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10%.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and applicable industry/government standards.
Experience with monitoring and measuring devices such as Keyence, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), and optical comparator.
Work Environment
This role is based in Hunt Valley, MD, where the team is responsible for building Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Generation equipment. The work involves innovative solutions for government customers, steel manufacturing, power plants, space exploration, and underwater vehicles. The environment supports energy, military, and aviation technology with a focus on electrolytic, thermoelectric, custom battery design, and fuel cell systems. The position requires adherence to dress codes and may involve evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
