Job Description Job Title: Sr Operator, Water Treatment Posting Start Date: 3/19/26 Job Description: Position Information This position pays up to $32 per hour dependent on experience. Primary Role Maintains, installs, and repairs water treatment plant equipment. At times required to operate the treatment plant in a way that meets all state and federal regulatory requirements. Key Accountabilities Troubleshoots, installs, operates, maintains, inspects, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance duties on the equipment at the water purification plants including, but not limited to, pumps, blowers, motors, chemical feed equipment, screens, mixers, filters, flow meters, gauges, valves, wash water processing equipment and related instrumentation and control equipment. Calibrates and adjusts chemical feed and process equipment including instrumentation and control systems. Monitors the water purification plants and makes adjustments as necessary to control their operations. Performs sampling, testing, and laboratory analysis to monitor process and determine compliance with Federal, state, and AW's standards. Performs necessary emergency operating procedures and takes proper corrective action for continuous effective operation of the water purification plants. Maintains all necessary records, tools, and work equipment. Performs maintenance and custodial duties at the water purification plants. Performs light construction projects as needed including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, etc. Specifies and initiates orders for parts and supplies. Assumes duties of Plant Operator in the absence of the Operator. Performs delivery, loading, unloading, and placing of water treatment chemicals into storage, including chemical receiving and inventory. Maintains grounds, buildings, roadways, screens, reservoirs, and right-of-ways. All other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors, and other mechanical equipment related to plant operation and maintenance. Knowledge of basic scientific and water purification concepts. Must have broad knowledge of MS Office products including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must understand the working principle behind a computerized maintenance management program.
