PACIV Senior Controls Engineer in Humble, Texas

Senior Controls Engineer

Founded in January 2005, ACE Controls brings over two decades of combined expertise in control panel design, fabrication, and integration. We specialize in serving the Water & Wastewater and Food & Beverage sectors, as well as partnering with manufacturers of process equipment including pumps, compressors, blowers, conveyors, mixers, and clarifiers. Our deep industry knowledge and commitment to quality make us a trusted resource for precision‑engineered control systems.

Please note: This is an on‑site role based in Humble, TX. Candidates must currently reside within a commutable distance.

Why Join ACE Controls

At ACE Controls, Senior Controls Engineers are trusted to own projects end‑to‑end and make real technical decisions, not simply execute predefined designs. You will work on meaningful automation projects that directly support critical infrastructure and essential manufacturing processes while collaborating with a tight‑knit, experienced engineering team that values quality, accountability, and practical solutions over red tape.

Projects range from small control system upgrades to large, multi‑system integrations supporting municipal infrastructure and industrial operations. The role includes a balanced mix of office‑based design and programming, commissioning support, and limited field troubleshooting as needed.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our team in Humble, TX, with experience supporting water and wastewater applications and a strong foundation in electrical design, industrial automation, and project execution. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in hands‑on environments, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and want ownership of their work from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the full lifecycle of PLC, HMI, and VTScada development — from initial system design through testing, commissioning, optimization, and long‑term support — using Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and Schneider Electric platforms.

  • Design and deliver SCADA and HMI solutions using Wonderware, Ignition, and FactoryTalk, creating intuitive and reliable operator interfaces for critical industrial and municipal systems.

  • Architect and support industrial network communications, leveraging Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP to ensure robust, secure, and maintainable system connectivity.

  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics and control panel designs in AutoCAD Electrical, contributing directly to panel architecture, wiring standards, and build quality.

  • Work hands‑on with field devices and control loops, troubleshooting sensors, actuators, and process controls to achieve stable, repeatable, and compliant system performance.

  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and I/O documentation that support system reliability, maintainability, and successful project execution.

  • Lead automation projects end‑to‑end, owning technical scope, schedule, and budget, while working directly with clients to define requirements, resolve challenges, and deliver high‑quality solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering peers, operations teams, customers, and subcontractors to meet project milestones and ensure successful system integration across diverse applications.

  • Champion safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, applying industry standards, electrical codes, and best practices throughout design, development, and deployment.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in controls design, PLC programming, and industrial automation

  • Hands‑on experience with SCADA/HMI platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk

  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP

  • Required proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for creating and modifying control panel schematics and system layouts

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders

    Employment Type

This is a direct‑hire position. ACE Controls does not support C2C (Corp‑to‑Corp), 1099 arrangements, or engage with external recruitment agencies.

    Compensation & Benefits Highlights

ACE Controls offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and work‑life balance:
