Job Description

BAE Systems has recently been awarded new programs and is currently undergoing an exciting period of growth.

Are you an experienced hardware engineer looking for the next step to grow your career in a lead role? Do you have a background as a hardware engineer as a subject matter expert in Mechanical, Electrical, RF or EO/IR Engineering and leading teams of engineers through the development and transition to production process?

Then, help us protect those that protect us by developing next generation of electronic systems products and solutions. We need your talent, motivation, and vision to join our growing teams.

This role is a dual role where you will perform in the player-coach model, where some of your time is allocated to being a team manager of engineers and part of your time as an individual contributor. This managed balance enables you to work on programs as a technical contributor/leader and manage your systems engineering team.

Roles and Responsibilities (Section/People Manager):

You will manage a team of engineers that will report to you. You will report directly to the director of Systems engineering, where he/she will be your guide and mentor. As a section manger of hardware engineers, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • As a member of the hardware engineering staff, help to shape the future of hardware engineering to optimize performance

  • Recruit, retain, train, recognize and develop hardware engineers to achieve their highest potential in alignment with the business needs

  • Assign team members as appropriate to programs, IRADs and proposals

  • Develop individual and group goals and objectives

  • Communicate flow-down company, business area and discipline information

  • Mentor careers by development of career and training plans

  • Ensure team members adhere to BAE Systems' cultural principals, policies, and vision

  • Ensure the established Hardware Development Process is implemented successfully

  • Work with other Discipline Section Leads to determine program staffing needs and right person/right job

  • On top of numerous diverse and challenging career opportunities, BAE offers flexible schedules (including every other Friday off), competitive compensation, and an excellent benefit package that includes tuition reimbursement for advanced degrees.

Roles and Responsibilities (Technical contributor):

As an individual contributor, you will be assigned to work on one or more programs applying your hardware engineering skills to the entire product lifecycle of a program. Examples of roles that you could have are product capture and proposals, product design, conducting and leading design reviews, hardware verification or integration, trade studies, and/or product build support in our factories.

Our products are primarily Electronic Warfare systems that enable our warfighters to execute their missions safely.

This part of the role, will enable you to engage in developing our EW solutions. There will be opportunities to use your existing skills and develop new ones as we work to extend your career path in alignment with your goals and the company needs.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time onsite. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
