MRC Global Steam Solutions Technical Inside Sales Representative in Houston, United States

Job Purpose
The Technical Inside Sales Representative is responsible for delivering business-to-business customer service through the order process of pipe, valves, and fitting products (PVF). This role will create and/or enter quotes, process customer orders, and resolve customer issues. The Technical Inside Sales Representative will provide technical expertise in the sale of specialized products while maximizing customer value and driving MRC Global strategies for safety, gross margin growth, and financial/operational performance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Develop knowledge of customer accounts to include technical requirements, production volume and schedules, targeted pricing, applicable contract requirements, and competitive analysis.
Respond promptly to customer requests for quotes by sourcing products from existing Company inventory or buying them externally.
Build quotes that simultaneously create value for the customer and profitability for MRC Global.
Utilize MRC Global systems/software to create quotes,locateavailable products/materials, process customers’ orders, create vendorpurchaseorders (PO), and perform other tasks related to customer needs.
Apply athoroughunderstanding of MRCGlobal’sprimary product ranges, including pipe, valves, and fittings products, to accuratelylocatethe products requested by the customer.
Develop and apply an in-depth understanding of the market for individualproductcategories, price products to concurrently maximize margins while winning bids.
Verify the on-time shipping/delivery status of pending inbound and outbound shipments; communicate status proactively with the customer and adjust product sourcing efforts if needed.
Promptlyproblem-solve and resolve the most common customer/order challengesby listeningto customers’ needs and concerns.
Validate that the product(s) specified in customers’ quote requests arepermittedper their respective approvedmanufacturer’slist (AML) or other customer-provided specifications.
Reference customer processing guides and other tools/resources tomaintainfamiliarity with customer preferences/processes; consult with the manager, other MRC Global departments, and suppliers as necessary to create the best possible customer experience.
Service next-level customer needs, including orders involving externally sourced labor, return material authorizations (RMA), purchase order changes, and orders involving special invoicing needs.
Required Experience
Typically requires one (1) or moreyears’ experiencein a dedicated customer-facing role, inside sales, and/or warehouse/shop services.
OR recent completion of post-secondary education to include any of the following: Technical/Trade School,associate degree,bachelor’sdegree, preferably with studies in industrial or sales.
Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated technical knowledgein one or more specialized productcategories(valve automation, controls,instrumentation& measurement,carbon steel pipes, fittings, & flanges,corrosion-resistant products, gas products, or steam products).
Proficient in the use of computers and MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)andadvancedknowledge basein MRCGlobal’sproprietary softwareto work efficiently.
Ability to communicate and promote ideas and transfer detailedand technicalknowledge to others.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Attention todetail, works with a sense of urgency.
Executes role withsome assistanceand supervision.
Working Conditions
Work isgenerallyperformedin an officeenvironment.
May require prolonged periods of sitting/standing.
Abilitytooccasionallytravelwithovernight stays.
