Tool Designer - Houston, TX
Brief Description:
Responsible for creating and maintaining precision tools, dies, and molds used in manufacturing processes, requiring a blend of mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and Fabrication: Create precision tools, dies, molds, and fixtures based on engineering specifications and blueprints.
Machinery Operation: Operate and maintain various machines, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to shape and finish parts to exact dimensions.
Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauge blocks, to inspect and ensure the quality of finished tools and components.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production teams to ensure tools meet functional requirements and production efficiency.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues with tools and equipment, recommending repairs or modifications as necessary.
Maintain accurate records of tool designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
Education/Credentials:
Requires a high school diploma or GED, with additional training or an apprenticeship in tool making or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, as well as experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and quality, with the ability to work with tight tolerances.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
Capability to perform manual tasks and operate machinery safely.
Work Environment:
Working in a manufacturing setting exposed to machinery and tools. The role can involve standing for long periods and may require heavy lifting of materials. Safety protocols are essential to ensure a safe working environment.
Position: Full-time
Work Hours; 7AM-5PM, Monday-Friday
