We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacesuit Software Test & Verification Engineer to join the team.
We are seeking a software test and verification engineer to support safety‑critical software development for next‑generation NASA EVA spacesuit systems. This role focuses on planning, executing, and documenting verification activities that ensure flight‑ and ground‑software components meet rigorous performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The engineer will collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, hardware teams, and NASA counterparts to validate correct behavior at the unit, integration, and system levels. This position is well‑suited for an engineer who excels at methodical analysis, requirements‑based testing, and problem solving across software‑hardware interfaces

The Spacesuit Software Test & Verification Engineer will:
Develop, maintain, and execute requirements‑based test plans, procedures, and verification methods for safety‑critical EVA suit software components.
Perform unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and stress/fault‑injection testing to validate deterministic and robust system behavior.
Collaborate with software developers to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and ensure testability of design implementations.
Support Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) and simulation‑based verification to confirm real‑time performance and correct interaction with avionics and PLSS subsystems.
Analyze test results, identify anomalies, perform root‑cause investigations, and track resolution of defects with cross‑disciplinary teams.
Prepare test reports, verification evidence, and objective artifacts required for NASA certification and program‑level reviews.
Participate in structured design reviews, code reviews, and safety‑focused assessments, providing verification insight and recommendations.
Contribute to configuration management, continuous integration workflows, and automation of test execution where appropriate.
Coordinate verification activities with NASA engineering teams and contractor partners to ensure alignment with EVA program requirements, interfaces, and V&V strategies.
Support Agile development practices by maintaining traceability, updating verification status, and communicating progress and risks to project leadership.

Requisition Qualifications:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Approximately 8+ years of professional experience in software verification, preferably for mission‑critical or aerospace applications.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing requirements‑based test procedures for embedded, real‑time software systems.
Strong understanding of C/C++ software behavior, control flow, and performance characteristics sufficient to design effective tests and identify defects.
Experience with test frameworks, continuous integration environments, and version‑controlled collaborative development (e.g., Git, GitLab).
Working knowledge of Linux‑based development workflows.Familiarity with hardware‑coupled testing, including use of instrumentation, debug tools, and HIL or simulation‑driven test assets.
Ability to document verification evidence clearly and communicate technical findings to multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Requisition Preferences:
Background supporting NASA programs or other safety‑critical, certification‑driven development environments.
Experience with NASA cFS‑based verification or real‑time embedded RTOS architectures.
Familiarity with automated test generation, scripting (Python), and verification toolchains.
Exposure to digital and protocol‑level interface testing (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, RS‑422, Ethernet).
Experience applying structured V&V practices such as DO‑178C‑like processes, hazard‑driven test coverage, or formal methods.
Experience with incorporation of AI technology in test processes or verification workflows for efficiency improvement.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, evolving program conditions while maintaining disciplined verification standards.
Experience with incorporation of AI technology in project processes for increased efficiency.
