Senior Smart Grid Package Integration Lead (EMS/SCADA/DCS)

This Opportunity:

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Smart Grid Package Integration Lead (EMS/SCADA/DCS) for our Houston, TX office.

Be involved in projects with our Advanced Utility Solutions (AUS) ADMS / Grid Modernization Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

This role supports the delivery of complex Operational Technology (OT) packages for mission-critical power and energy systems. The position combines deep EMS / SCADA / DCS technical expertise with package delivery leadership — ensuring integrated, cyber-secure, and fully tested operational systems.

Your Impact:

• Serve as technical lead and package owner for EMS / SCADA / DCS system scope

• Lead vendor bid evaluations and technical clarifications

• Oversee design development, system configuration, and integration boundaries

• Coordinate package delivery across engineering, suppliers, EPC partners, and operations stakeholders

• Maintain execution plans, milestones, and readiness gates including FAT, SAT, and commissioning

• Track deliverables, dependencies, and technical action items

• Expedite supplier documentation and long-lead equipment

• Support schedule alignment and commissioning readiness across project phases

• Partner with project leadership to manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies

• Guide OT architecture aligned to Purdue model segmentation

• Define integration standards (e.g., DNP3, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850)

• Support cybersecurity-by-design implementation

• Coordinate testing phases including interface FAT, integrated FAT, SAT, and performance validation

• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline

• 10+ years of relevant experience with EMS, SCADA, DCS systems, OT integration, or power systems controls

• Demonstrated experience managing technical scope and vendor delivery for complex system packages

• Strong understanding of OT communications and system integration practices

• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead technical workshops and supplier coordination

• Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• PE, PMP, or related professional certification

• Experience implementing OT cybersecurity frameworks

• Experience supporting phased commissioning or system migrations

• Prior experience working with utilities, EPC firms, OEM vendors, or grid modernization programs

• Familiarity with DER integration, renewable forecasting, or grid optimization systems
