Job Summary and Qualifications
As an Imaging Student Extern, you will build valuable hands-on experience by learning from experienced team members who are committed to your growth. You’ll be a valued, respected part of the team, contributing your insights and helping deliver care that keeps patients comfortable and confident throughout their imaging experience.
What you will do in this role:
Shadow and observe licensed Radiology Technologists to gain a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
Assist in preparing examination rooms and ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and ready for patient use.
Help position patients for radiographic examinations under the direct supervision of a licensed Radiology Technologist.
Assist with the maintenance and organization of radiology equipment and supplies.
Provide basic patient care and comfort, such as answering questions, providing reassurance, and ensuring patient privacy.
Observe and learn proper radiation safety practices and procedures.
Participate in educational opportunities, such as attending workshops, seminars, or training sessions, as directed by the supervising Radiology Technologist or department manager.
Promotes consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
Demonstrates caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications.
Participates as an active member of the health care team and positively promotes the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.
Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
What qualifications you will need:
Completion of prerequisite coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Basic Cardiac Life Support
Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate within 6 months post-graduation or current enrollment in an accredited radiology technology program required
