We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - Advanced Resistive Exercise Device (ARED) to join the team with Nexus , a teammate company.

The ARED (Advanced Resistive Exercise Device) Project Engineer will:

  • Sustain the ARED aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through hardware development, manufacturing, and assembly, in addition to troubleshooting anomalies and resupplying hardware.​

  • Process ISS crew workout and hardware response data, analyzing and documenting results for presentation to customers.

  • Participate in testing activities when required.

  • Work in a team environment, and report to project lead or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.

  • Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware or test support hardware.

  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experience with Flight Hardware (Class I) documentation (TPSs, DRs, Processes and Procedures).

  • Experience with procedure development.​

  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to take ownership and complete all assignments as required.

  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness with close attention to detail.

  • Able to adapt for changing conditions and provide alternative solutions to challenges in a timely manner.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

    Requisition Preferences:

  • ​Experience with ISS Countermeasures Systems and in-flight hardware processing for spaceflight.

  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.​

  • Experience with procurement of Flight Hardware.

  • Experience with Testing at JSC Facilities.

  • Experience with Astronaut interface/communication.

  • Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency.
