Thermo/Probes Inc Mechanical Designer in Houston, Texas
Job Summary: The Mechanical Designer collaborates with clients assessing needs and provides technical expertise to customize designs to meet clients specific requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Essential Functions - Duties and Responsibilities: Perform mechanical design using CAD software to develop product solutions. Maintain and organize CAD drawing library with accurate labeling and version control. Collaborate with clients to assess needs and customize designs to meet specific requirements. Perform qualification testing on new designs to verify performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for newly designed products. Ensure quality control throughout the design and manufacturing process. Assist technicians in machining and production manufacturing for efficient product realization. Perform precise temperature calibrations on RTDs and thermocouples to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Provide technical support and recommendations for product improvements and optimizations. Manage cost and pricing control for materials and components to ensure accurate quoting. Ensures the office remains clean and orderly, including tidying common areas (break room and restrooms), organizing workspaces, and managing trash. Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. Performs other duties as requested by management. Required Skills/Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions. Strong problem-solving abilities to address customer-specific technical challenges. Collaborative mindset, enabling seamless interaction with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of production principles and techniques. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
Education and Experience: Associates degree in Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field (Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical background). Strong background using computer-aided drafting software, preferably On-shape. One to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably with RTD, thermocouples and thermowell experience.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
