System One Logistics Coordinator - Chemical Plant in Houston, Texas
Logistics Coordinator (Chemical Facility)- East Houston (77012)
System One is partnering with a client to hire a Logistics Coordinator for their chemical plant located in the East Houston / Ship Channel (I-610 corridor).
This role is a key position within the facility, acting as the central hub between operations, compliance, and customer interactions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of plant logistics, regulatory knowledge, and ERP system experience.
What We’re Looking For
Technical Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on industrial experience
Active TWIC card required
Strong systems experience, including SAP and other ERP platforms (JDE, AS400, Prism a plus)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Access
In-depth knowledge of DOT shipping regulations and manifest/documentation requirements
Core Competencies:
High attention to detail with strong mathematical accuracy
Ability to prioritize and self-manage in a fast-paced plant environment
Solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills across operations, vendors, and customers
Position Overview
This role manages the end-to-end lifecycle of materials within the plant—from initial profiling and receipt through final shipment and documentation—while ensuring full compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Documentation Oversight
Ensure accuracy and compliance of waste manifests, Bills of Lading, and shipping documentation
Maintain records aligned with state and environmental reporting requirements (RCRA, etc.)
Manage monthly reconciliations related to regulatory fees and reporting
Track transporter certifications, trailer weights, and compliance documentation
Logistics & Inventory Coordination
Utilize SAP and LIMS systems to manage inventory, process orders, and material tracking
Oversee daily inbound/outbound shipments and proactively resolve delays or discrepancies
Support procurement activities and coordinate urgent or after-hours logistics needs
Technical & Operational Support
Perform chemical compatibility reviews and support material profiling
Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and coordinate railcar logistics
Partner with lab, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth execution
Maintain strict adherence to safety and storage protocols for hazardous materials
Client & Stakeholder Interaction
Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, shipment issues, and discrepancies
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and transportation providers to ensure efficient scheduling and communication
Additional Details
Annual safety and compliance training required
Ongoing training in STEERS reporting and DOT-compliant shipping documentation
