Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating machines such as excavators, bulldozers, off-road trucks, stabilizers, and tractors with pans. These machines are utilized to assist in the construction of roads, plants, and other heavy civil projects. This role involves working closely with the project team, superintendents, and operations to ensure that the work aligns with the company's objectives. The position demands good judgment and the capability to make independent decisions.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment safely and adhere to project plans and company safety regulations.
Load and unload equipment from trucks and trailers.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment, materials, and the job site, ensuring safe storage and removing scrap and excess materials as necessary.
Monitor material placement, adjust machine settings, or instruct workers to add more material in low areas.
Complete all required paperwork and reports.
Follow instructions from supervisors regarding work locations and tasks.
Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections and perform basic equipment maintenance.
Undertake additional tasks as assigned or as needed.
Assist with general labor duties when required.
Comply with all job-site safety rules.
Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of experience operating excavators, bulldozers, off-road trucks, and tractors with pans in civil construction.
Experience in performing daily inspections and basic maintenance on excavators, dozers, loaders, packers, and other job-related tools.
Ability to understand and follow instructions clearly.
Knowledge of job-site hazards, safety rules, and capacity to learn company and client safety policies.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Ability to pass all required drug and alcohol tests.
Collaborative work style and willingness to assist in various roles on the job site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to travel to project locations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
