Position Description

This position supports the commercial teams within Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas Business Unit. The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative assistance primarily to President, Vice President and Director level employees, as well as occasional support to the broader commercial teams. Prioritization, accuracy, efficiency, and initiative are key skills for the job. The position reports to the Director-Commercial.

Primary Duties:

  • Process, submit, and track expense reports (including accurate coding)

  • Coordinate and schedule in-person and virtual meetings using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams

  • Coordinate and schedule travel for team members including airfare, hotel reservations, rental cars, etc.

  • Compile, refine, and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports

  • Assist team members with the submittal and approval of biweekly timekeeping reports

  • Order office supplies upon request and maintain stock

  • Reconcile purchasing card charges on a monthly basis

  • Compose/send occasional departmental emails and/or notifications

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and coordinate events for large groups, including managing logistics, scheduling dates and negotiating contracts

  • Support team members across several of Kinder Morgan’s primary offices in Houston, and Downers Grove (Chicago-area)

**Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Position Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • At least a high school diploma with 3-5 years’ experience in an Administrative Assistant role.

  • Two (2) year degree in business related discipline preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams.

  • Must possess strong analytical skills. Office management skills are a plus.

  • Must learn and adapt to Kinder Morgan’s applications which support the duties listed above (e.g., expense reporting and timekeeping platforms).

  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily work and maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Must be able to communicate and work cooperatively with various levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors to resolve issues while adhering to deadlines.

  • Must be adaptive and flexible while demonstrating strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills.

  • Must possess excellent communications skills, written and verbal.
